As long as you have the proper documents, updating your information on your Alberta Driver’s Licence is typically a straightforward process.
To update your name, you’ll need:
The registry agent will provide you with a temporary interim paper Licence to use until your new driver’s Licence arrives in the mail (up to 21 days). Your interim paper Licence will not have a photograph. You will be able to retain your previous identification for photo ID purpose only until your new valid card arrives. The temporary interim and previous ID must be destroyed.
